Updated: 20/6/09 Latest news from the Hilongos
Community
Br Carl Sherrin has now visited some of the homes of the children who came to our Summer Classes in May. (Some very sad stories indeed) He has offered to help them financially if they register to a School of their choice. He reports that the children registered to four different Schools in Hilongos and he had a 100% turn up for the first week of school, which is extraordinary. He has decided to purchase a push bike, as getting around to visiting these children is a time consuming task. This will hopefully save a little leg work too. Br Peter, who returned to Australia last month, is well and has been reassigned to a new mission in Australia and his place will be taken here in Hilongos, at least until Christmas, by two new brothers who will join us soon.
Br Frank says: "Things are hot and steamy here in Hilongos at the moment, so it is difficult to stay in school for 8 hours each day. Br Paul Coster and Br Denis Sullvan will arrive in Hilongos on 30th June, so we will be housing four brothers from then on. It is not clear how much longer we will stay in our house here (three bedrooms) as the OLT wants us to look for something bigger. We have arranged to rent a spare room next door for our fourth member till the new house is ready. Denis and Paul have initially signed on till the end of the year, but if they find it to their liking, they may wish to stay longer."
